Tyler Merriman is an audio engineer from Austin, TX.

After graduating with a bachelor’s of science in sound recording technology from Texas State University, he went to work for Texas music legends Ray Benson & Asleep at the Wheel.

There he served as a record label administrator and recording studio manager. After leaving the organization in 2019, Tyler has been freelancing in recording and live sound.

He specializes in recording, mixing and mastering audio for music, podcasts and video, as well as live sound production.

Marfa Tapes

In 2020, Tyler got a call from his videographer friend Spencer. He said that he had filmed a “making of” documentary for the upcoming Miranda Lambert album “Marfa Tapes”. Miranda’s record label had found a buyer, and they needed the final edit/mix turned over in 2 days.

He slept for 8 of the next 48 hours, and spent the rest mixing interviews, voiceovers, music and sound effects.

The result was what has since become a video feature of a Grammy Nominated album! It is featured on AppleTV+, Paramount+, Prime Video and iTunes.

The first video below is the documentary trailer and the second is a featured song.
